In 2014 10 students and three teachers visited Gallipoli as part of their cross KLA Educational tour of Turkey. It was an emotional visit and for many of the students attending, their first real exposure to what ANZAC truly means.
In an age where the generations are further and further removed from the ANZAC tradition, it is important to create first hand experiences to bring home the message of what ANZAC means and why we commemorate it each year.
Attached are 5 videos created by the Department of Education NSW formed from footage and photos taken by the teachers and students compiled with emotional interviews following their return. This is now a complete educational resource for schools across the country to use when exploring the history of the World Wars and what the ANZAC tradition means for all who call Australia and New Zealand home.
